The WTO Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee plays a crucial role in shaping international trade by addressing regulatory measures that impact global markets. While TIC Council members have not traditionally been deeply engaged with TBT discussions, the latest triennial review has introduced new opportunities for engagement, particularly for Conformity Assessment Bodies. With the Committee becoming more open to input from non-members, TIC Council members now have a unique opportunity to contribute to discussions and influence topics of relevance to our sector.
This webinar aims to provide an overview of the WTO TBT Committee and its latest triennial review, with a specific focus on the new guidance on Conformity Assessment. Participants will gain insights into why the review matters for CABs, the emerging opportunities for engagement, and the mechanisms available for proposing topics, participating in discussions, and contributing to future workstreams.
