Washington D.C, 31 January – TIC Council Americas Executive Director, Karin Athanas, has been selected as one of the new Board Members of the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO), ahead of its upcoming 2022 Annual Meeting and Training Symposium later this month.

Ms. Athanas will begin an initial three-year term starting on Tuesday 15 March 2022.

The International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO), founded in 1993, brings together a global membership comprising of health and safety professionals who collectively share information and address health & safety concerns that affect all consumers.

Its members consist of U.S. and global government agencies, manufacturers, importers, retailers, trade associations, certification/testing laboratories, law firms, academia, health organisations, standards writing organisations, media, and consumer and parent advocatory groups.

In addition to her new role as Board Member, Karin will be a moderator at the 2022 Annual Meeting and Training Symposium being held on 14-17 February 2022 at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center at National Harbor, MD. Ms. Athanas will moderate on February 14 the session on “Tracking Products, The Challenges of Small Shipments”, where speakers will discuss the status of de minimis shipments, as well as efforts to identify, inspect, and act on small shipments suspected of being counterfeit, stolen, or infringing on U.S intellectual property rights.
