TIC Council Commodities Committee is pleased to share its latest White Paper on Critical Minerals.
This white paper outlines the growing global importance of Critical Minerals, which underpin clean energy technologies, digital infrastructure and industrial competitiveness, but face mounting pressures from geological scarcity, geopolitical concentration, unstable supply chains and rising sustainability expectations. It explains how the Energy Transition is accelerating demand for minerals such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, rare earth elements and copper, while exposing vulnerabilities linked to regulatory fragmentation, ESG risks, fraud, illegal mining and market volatility.
The paper highlights the essential role of the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) Industry in ensuring transparency, compliance and resilience across the entire Critical Minerals value chain, from prospecting and exploration to mining, trading, responsible sourcing, recycling and circular economy processes. It argues that independent oversight, verification, and credible data are indispensable for securing sustainable supply chains, restoring investor confidence, and supporting responsible practices as global demand intensifies.
