The EU Fertilising Products Regulation, implemented in summer 2022, brings significant changes to the fertilizer industry, including compliance, CE marking, and labeling requirements. The regulation allows for a broad range of fertilising products, such as organic fertilisers, organo-mineral fertilisers, growing media, and biostimulants, as long as they meet the new environmental and safety standards.
The FPR's new procedures aim to build confidence among consumers and public authorities regarding the compliance of fertilizing products. Additionally, this regulatory framework supports ongoing innovation in the mineral fertiliser industry, emphasizing circular economy principles, biodegradability of polymer coatings for Controlled Release Fertilisers, and the integration of biostimulants with mineral fertilisers. It is crucial for fertiliser producers to remain proactive and engaged to meet the expectations of farmers successfully.
