As the international association for independent certification, TIC Council is committed to promoting environmental sustainability and responsible industry practices. To this extent, we welcome the European Union's new regulation aimed at preventing plastic pellet losses, a significant step forward in the fight against microplastic pollution.

Third-party verification is the best way to ensure that operators involved in sensitive supply chains, such as plastic pellets, achieve the highest standards of environmental stewardship. We believe that this regulation will not only protect our environment but also enhance the credibility and competitiveness of businesses that adhere to these standards. Including all operators in the scope ensures legal certainty and the highest level of environment protection, as microplastic pollution can occur at any stage of the supply chain, regardless of a company’ size. Verifiers like TIC Council members have years of experience offering certification services and adapting their services and costs to different companies, whether they are big industrial players or smaller companies. The verifiers are ready to face the tasks mandated by the Regulation since it’s their core business.
