TIC Council Merit Award Scheme 2024
Objective / Scope of Award
To give recognition to TIC Council Representatives for their outstanding contributions to the industry through their work in the association and for their advancement of TIC Council’s Strategic Objectives (Advocacy, Reputation, and Promotion of Best Practices).
The Merit Awards are allocated in three categories corresponding to TIC Council’s Strategic Objectives. One award will be allocated per category.
Eligibility of Nominees
Nominees must be Representatives of TIC Council Member Companies with a record of active participation within the association.
Submission of Nominations
Nominations may be submitted by the interested candidate or by someone else on their behalf by filling the nomination form found on the TIC Council Website (click here to fill the application).
The nominee / nominating person is required to fill the form with all pertinent information, including a description of the contributions to the industry within TIC Council that would justify receiving the Merit Award in the corresponding category.
The nominee / nominating person must guarantee that the nominee, if selected to receive the award, will be able to attend the event where the award would be given, or have someone receive it on their behalf.
Selection Process
The winner of this year's Merit Awards will be selected by open vote of representatives of TIC Council member companies.
The Secretariat will compile all nominations received and submit them to the representatives of TIC Council member companies for a majority vote. Member Companies may allocate only ONE (1) vote per category.
TIC Council member company representatives are asked to submit their votes taking into consideration the stated contributions of the nominees towards TIC Council’s Strategic Objectives, as stated in the application form.
The Merit Awards will be allocated to the candidates having the majority of votes received per category.
Allocation of Award
The Merit Awards will be bestowed during the TIC Council Annual Summit dinner on Tuesday 14 May in Brussels, Belgium.
Time for Submission of Nominations
Nominations may be submitted via the application form until Friday 15 March.
Merit Category per Strategic Objective: Breakdown of Merit Achievements in Advocacy, Best Practice and Reputation
The Merit Criteria for Advocacy refers to significant contributions in advancing TIC Council’s mission to advocate for balanced regulatory frameworks and effective policy solutions that protect the public, support innovation and facilitate trade.
A nominee’s merit on the basis of Advocacy will be primarily based on the nominee’s contribution to the planning and deployment of advocacy activities and how the candidate’s service has enabled the achievement of TIC Council’s policy objectives globally and / or regionally. Activities include but are not limited to:
- Identification of policy issues, risks and opportunities
- Identification of balanced policy solutions
- Expert inputs to support the development of policy positions, public comments, white papers, etc.
- Engagement with relevant stakeholders
- Representation of TIC Council in expert groups, events etc.
- Defining and hitting SMART advocacy targets and metrics
- Achieving advocacy policy, strategy, and tactical alignment and coherence up and across the company hierarchy globally, and leading successful efforts at achieving advocacy policy, strategy and tactical alignment and coherence across the TIC governance and membership.
The Merit Criteria for Best Practice refers to significant contributions in advancing TIC Council’s mission to promote best practices in safety, quality, health, ethics and sustainability within TIC Council’s global and regional committees.
A nominee’s merit on the basis of Best Practice will be primarily based on the nominee’s contribution to raising the TIC industry standards, including but not limited to:
- Identification of potential risks / opportunities related to the quality and consistency of services provided by the TIC industry
- Representation and advancement of TIC Council’s goals and positions in technical committees and events
- Expert inputs to support the development of technical materials, code of practice and guidelines, among others.
The Merit Criteria for Reputation refers to significant contributions to enhancing the TIC industry visibility and reputation.
A nominee’s merit on the basis of Reputation will be primarily based on the nominee’s contribution to efforts that have helped enhance the visibility, reputation as well as raise awareness of the value and role of the TIC industry, including but not limited to:
- Identification of reputational risks and opportunities for the TIC industry
- Studies and data collection that show the value and benefits of the TIC industry
- Dissemination of TIC studies, reports, positions through its company’s communications teams.
